As a third-year student in international Hospitality and Tourism Management in France, I have always been passionate about exploring new cultures and environments. Having spent my childhood traveling across different countries due to my parents’ work, including extended stays in France, Belgium, Italy and Germany, I’ve learned how to be adaptable, open and curious about the things that surrounds me. My seven-year stay in Belgium was particularly influential, providing me with stability amidst the constant mobility and shaping my desire to embrace different traditions and experiences.
When I had the opportunity to do an exchange semester in Toronto, I knew it was the perfect fit for me. From the moment I arrived, I fell in love with the city, its people and the academic environment. Canada’s diversity and multiculturalism immediately resonated with me, allowing me not only to immerse myself in the rich Canadian culture, but also to meet people from all around the world. This exposure has enriched my learning experience and helped me gain a broader perspective on the hospitality industry, both personally and professionally.
Studying at the Ted Rogers School of Management has been an incredible revelation. The teaching methods here push me to think more critically and engage more deeply with the subjects I’m passionate about. The way knowledge is shared and applied has been both challenging and exciting, far surpassing my expectations. I feel as though I’ve found my perfect academic environment, where I am more eager than ever to dive into the complexities of the hospitality industry.
Moreover, Canada’s hospitality sector offers opportunities that are unique compared to what I have experienced in France. The country boasts an array of prestigious hotels and a dynamic market that allows for real growth and creativity. In Toronto, I’ve discovered a new path that I had not envisioned for myself before coming here. The depth and diversity of the hospitality industry here, coupled with the international influence, make it an ideal place for me to envision my future.
In fact, my experience here has completely transformed how I see my future. Just one month ago, I struggled to project myself beyond my studies, but now, I feel confident about my aspirations. I can clearly see myself working in Canada for the next five or ten years, in this city and with people I care about, for goals and missions I care about. This clarity has given me a new sense of purpose and direction that I hadn’t felt before.
My happiness here is undeniable. Even my parents and professors in France noticed how fulfilled and engaged I’ve become since arriving in Toronto. They quickly recognized that I had found my place. This realization has only strengthened my resolve to continue developing myself, both professionally and personally, in this incredible country.
Canada is a land of opportunity, and I am determined to make the most of it. I believe that my time here will be a turning point in my career, and I am committed to seizing every opportunity that comes my way. Whether it’s learning from industry leaders, exploring different hospitality models or continuing to grow as an individual, I know that Canada is the place where I can thrive.
I’m excited for what the future holds and confident that the skills and knowledge I am gaining during my stay in Toronto will shape the next steps of my journey.
